Minutes of a ‘Zoom’ Meeting of the Committee held at the Invitation of The Chairman at 7.30pm on Monday 27th July 2020

- Minutes. The minutes for the meeting held on 22nd June were agreed.

Matters Arising from the Minutes:
- Healthy Homes Act. Information had been received from Elaine in preparation for the next meeting with Caroline Peach
- Bees and Road Verges – Exeter University Study. Elaine will follow this up and Ken will feature it in the next newsletter.

Built Environment.
- Wessex Fields. The plan for the expansion of Bournemouth Hospital had been approved – hopefully the design improvements will be included in the detailed plan.
- Boscombe & Pokesdown Neighbourhood Plan. We are keeping a watching brief
- Viking Court, 47 Southbourne Overcliff Drive. Residents have appealed to the Ombudsman.
- Purple Flag – Town Centre Night Time Economy. We are keeping a watching brief, and the interim renewal application for 2020 has been submitted.
- 983-985 Christchurch Road. Pokesdown Community Forum have objected, J S had reviewed this on our behalf and we are supporting their objection.
- Stourvale Road URC Churchyard. The Society is supporting Pokesdown Community Forum’s objections to the plans.
- 10 Carbery Avenue. John S had investigated on our behalf and objected.
- Vegetation and lack of Gutter Clearing on Roads. This would feature in the next newsletter to encourage BCP Council to reinstate the former cutting and clearing programme
- Bistro on the Beach, Southbourne. John S would study the formal planning application when it is lodged.
- Beach House Café, Hengistbury Head. John S has checked the plan and proposed design improvements
- Lucerne Arch. The Society has been asked whether it supported its’ relocation. This to be discussed at next meeting.

Heritage and Conservation.
- Hicks Farm, Throop. John S had reviewed the SANG application and it would be raised with Caroline Peach
- Odeon Cinema. Plans approved, will be raised at the Caroline Peach meeting.
- Throop Churchyard. The concerns set out in the June minutes would be raised with Caroline Peach
- St Michael’s Church. The Society had supported the bid for Heritage Lottery Funds and John S was our link to Sue at the church.
- Planning. No report following the breakdown of John Soane’s computer

- These meetings were ‘virtual’ due to the Covid 19 restrictions and were/would be observed on-line by:

- Communications Timetable. Ken would be completing the newsletter in the next few weeks.
- Civic Voice. Civic Voice was campaigning against the recent Government relaxation of the Planning process. We support their bid to stop the build, build, build mantra that fails to take into account good planning and local distinctiveness.

Membership Officer’s Report.
- Membership. 1 new member, 1 death and 11 still failed to renew. Reminders will be issued with the newsletter.
- Webmaster’s Report. All good and up to date.

Treasurer’s Report:
- Current Account. The balance in the current account was £35,877.78
- Keith Barnes Estate. No further news.
- Caroline Peach Meeting. Jean was unable to contact Caroline, Ken would attempt to do so by email.

Any Other Business
- Bournemouth Flag. The Society had been asked to support Poole Flag Trust’s move for each of the original boroughs to have its’ own flag so will discuss at next meeting
- Savoy Hotel – News that hotel use will cease – need to keep an eye out for plans for conversion/redevelopment.
- Healthy Homes Act – Elaine would forward information from the TCPA so this could be featured in the meeting with Caroline Peach.
Next Meetings – Mondays 24th August, and 28th September, probably via ‘Zoom’ and starting at 7.30pm – Paul to be responsible for arrangements.
