Matters Arising from the Minutes:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Condolences. <\/b>Ken confirmed that he had written to Hilda.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>Built Environment. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Viking Court, 47 Southbourne Overcliff Drive.<\/b> Jean-Daniel was researching planning in Southbourne and would now liaise with Verity and the Southbourne Heritage Forum.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Friends of Riverside.<\/b> A reply had been received from the Council confirming that plans were being reviewed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>32 Cleveland Road. <\/b>See John S\u2019s comments.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Boscombe Area Town Development. <\/b>Plans and a bid had been submitted by the Council for review by the Government.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Transforming Lansdowne.<\/b> The Council had approved revised plans which allowed buses and traffic along Holdenhurst Road which are considered better than the prvious proposals.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Transforming Travel.<\/b> The Society needed to check plans for the routes from the town centre to Ferndown ad Christchurch. Elaine, John and Ken would review.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Sand Replenishment .<\/b> The Council planned to improve beaches from Southbourne to Poole this coming year<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>36 Burnham Drive.<\/b> A plea for help had been received via the website re plans for development. John S would investigate and include in the next monthly digest<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>Heritage and Conservation.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Throop Mill. <\/b>Numerous queries on the website. Ken had emailed Caroline Peach seeking information.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Victorian Tram Shelter, Iddesleigh Road. <\/b>No further news \u2013 the Society agreed that it would offer a grant toward restoration. Ken would contact Cllr Hedges.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Blue Plaque for Margo Breeze (Durell). <\/b>It was agreed to support the request via the website for a Blue Plaque at 51 St Alban\u2019s Avenue. Ken would contact Mike Stead and the resident who had emailed us.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Aviary in Lower Gardens.<\/b> It was agreed that the Society should make a \u00a3300 grant towards its repairs. Ken would liaise with Peter to make a payment<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>Planning. <\/b><\/span>See John Soane\u2019s written reports:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>32 Cleveland Road. <\/b>An application to build a three storey block of 18 flats on the site of a former industrial building. The design was not in keeping with surrounding buildings and failed to meet the townscape policy and should be refused.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Hop Inn, 6 Westcliff Road. <\/b>The application was to install advertising material on the front of the building which would be painted black. This failed to meet the townscape policies and should be refused.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>49 Markham Avenue. <\/b>The plan was to demolish a much extended bungalow and outbuildings and replace them with four bungalows. The Society considered that there should be no more than two bungalows and the application should be refused<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>137 Broadway, Southbourne. <\/b>An application to build two 2-storey semi detached homes on the site of a mid-century bungalow. The Society considered that the design was incongruous and failed to meet the townscape policies and should be refused.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>1008 Wimborne Road. <\/b>An application to build a two and a half block of 8 flats on the car park of the Holly Public House. The society consider that the block should be reduced to 6 flats and repositioned and the plan deferred for improvement or refused.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>14 Lombard Avenue. <\/b>An application to build a two storey extension to a substantial family house. The Society considered that in part the extension was out of keeping with the original building and should be deferred for improvement or refused.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>46-48 Dalmeny Road. <\/b>This application was to extend two mid century detached houses so that they could be joined to form 6 flats. The Society considered the mass of the new building was excessive and out of keeping with the surroundings and, failing to meet the townscape policy should be refused.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Land beside 973 Christchurch Road. <\/b>The application to build a pair of semi-detached houses on vacant ground but the built footprint would be considerably larger than adjacent properties. The Society considered that the site was suitable for one smaller property or should be landscaped as a community space, consequently the plans should be refused.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>18 Holdenhurst Avenue. <\/b>An application to build a substantial two storey extension to a palatial Arts &amp; Crafts inter war house. The society considered that the plans were out of keeping with the existing building and should be refused.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>25 Glenferness Avenue. <\/b>An application to build a substantial two and a half block of 8 flats in the Arts &amp; Crafts style of neighbouring properties. The Society approved of these plans and recommend that they be allowed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>154 Iford Lane. <\/b>A plan to build two detached houses on waste land beside the railway embankment. The Society is happy with the proposal believe that the buildings should be re-sited and the application should be deferred.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>Planning Board Observations: <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\">At the November meeting the only Bournemouth Plan was the Durley Chine Visitor Centre<b> <\/b>on the site of the former Council Depot which were approved<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\">John S would watch via Zoom the December meeting<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\">\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>Communications Timetable. <\/b><\/span>The next Newsletter would be issued in January\/ February. Ken would liaise with Sally re. printing and distribution as this mailing would include membership reminders,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>Civic Voice. <\/b><\/span>Lots of useful information had been received.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\">\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><a name=\"_GoBack\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>Membership Officer\u2019s Report. <\/b><\/span>No report<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>Webmaster\u2019s Report.<\/b><\/span> All good and up to date, all enquiries being followed up.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>11. Treasurer\u2019s Report: <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Current Account. \u00a3<\/b>35,790.84 (no change from September).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Gift Aid Refund. <\/b>A refund of \u00a397.50 had been received.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"12\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>Caroline Peach Meeting. <\/b><\/span>The meeting on Friday 6<sup>th<\/sup> November:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><b>Old Coach House. <\/b>The owners were being chased to make necessary repairs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><b>Riviera Hotel. <\/b>At appeal \u2013 new plans submitted for 14 flats.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><b>Throop Mill. <\/b>No news.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><b>Hicks Farm. <\/b>The SANG proposals had been rejected.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><b>New National Planning Policies. <\/b>Supposedly simpler! The Council would wait to see.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><b>Electric Car Charging Points. <\/b>Government policy only applied to new vehicles<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><b>Ashley Road. <\/b>Site contamination?<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><b>West Cliff Lift and Pier Landing Stage. <\/b>Work on these was unlikely.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>13 Any Other Business.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><b>Barnes Benches. <\/b>Following Keith\u2019s bequest and a suggestion that his legacy be used to fund a number of benches there was a discussion as to the suitability of sites for \u2018Barnes Benches\u2019.
