Minutes of a Meeting of the Committee held at 18 Sandbourne Road<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Sir Hubert Parry.\u00a0 <\/strong>Before the meeting Paul Kelly addressed the committee to<\/p>\n

    \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>seek support for his proposal that Bournemouth should find an appropriate way to<\/p>\n

    honour the memory of Sir Hubert Parry, the composer of \u2018Jerusalem\u2019 who was born in<\/p>\n

    Bournemouth and later returned to support and conduct the Municipal Orchestra.<\/p>\n

    In conjunction with St Peter\u2019s Church five concerts had been arranged between 29th<\/sup><\/p>\n

    September and 7th<\/sup> \u00a0October, the centenary of his death.\u00a0 Currently his association with<\/p>\n

    the Town was marked by a blue plaque above the entrance to Richmond Chambers<\/p>\n

    which stand on\u00a0 the site of the house where he was born, but this is missed by most<\/p>\n

    passers-by. The Committee expressed their support in principle for ideas including a<\/p>\n

    bust, naming a road (perhaps within the new Winter Gardens) plus Rod and Elaine<\/p>\n

    Cooper\u2019s plans for Parry to be incorporated in the next batch of commemorative<\/p>\n

    plaques with a possible site identified in Westover Road. Paul promised to keep the<\/p>\n

    Committee informed of plans.<\/p>\n

    1. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong>The minutes for the meeting held on 26th<\/sup> February were agreed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Matters Arising from the Minutes. \u00a0<\/strong>There were no matters arising<\/li>\n
      2. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Planning Policy Steering Group. \u00a0<\/strong>The Group next meets on 18th<\/sup> May<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        4.<\/strong>.1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oil Drilling.\u00a0 <\/strong>The Council had submitted its\u2019 objections to planned oil drilling in the<\/p>\n

        \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>area by \u2018Corallian\u2019.<\/p>\n

         <\/p>\n

        1. Built Environment.\u00a0 <\/strong>\n
            \n
          • A338\/Bournemouth Hospital. <\/strong>Waiting!\u00a0 <\/strong>Lots of coverage in the Echo, it was<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            understood that a request for \u2018call-in\u2019 had been submitted by the local campaigners and this had the support of the Bournemouth East MP.<\/p>\n

              \n
            • Cliff House Hotel. <\/strong>Plans to convert the Southbourne hotel into flats had been rejected.<\/li>\n
            • Lucerne Arch. <\/strong>The Society\u2019s views on Cllr Hedges\u2019 suggestion that the Lucerne<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Arch should be re-sited had been sent and a reply received from him. Watch this space!<\/p>\n

              • Car Parks. <\/strong>Although redevelopment schemes included replacement and additional car parking spaces the Committee expressed their concern that the overall provision of car parking in Central Bournemouth was inadequate and getting worse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                1. \u00a0\u00a0Heritage and Conservation.<\/strong>\n
                    \n
                  • Westover Road Cinemas. <\/strong>No significant change and news still awaited regarding appeals dates and what type of inquiries would be held.<\/li>\n
                  • Grand Cinema (Bingo Hall) Westbourne. <\/strong>Wetherspoons had expressed an interest but as the building was listed it was well protected and the suggestion of having it listed as an asset of community value likely not necessary or would prove unsuccessful based on similar attempts to have ACV status for the Westover Rd cinemas last year.<\/li>\n
                  • Cliff End Hotel.<\/strong> Plans awaiting consideration by the Planning Board.<\/li>\n
                  • Boscombe and Pokesdown. <\/strong>The neighbourhood plan is moving forward.<\/li>\n
                  • Conservation Areas. <\/strong>Meetings re the review of existing conservation areas were planned for:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                    • Old Christchurch Road \u2013 <\/strong>10th<\/sup> April 10.00 to 12.00 (James and John)<\/li>\n
                    • East Cliff <\/strong>\u2013 10th<\/sup> April 2pm to 4pm (James and John)<\/li>\n
                    • West Cliff and Poole Hill <\/strong>\u2013 11th April (Elaine and John)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                        • 7 East Overcliff Drive (adjacent to Miramar Hotel)<\/strong>. Plans for 7 flats were<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                          • 17 West Cliff Road. <\/strong>Good planning for 20 flats on site of demolished hotel<\/li>\n
                          • Wootton House. <\/strong>Plans for flats on the site of a villa were OK (not visible from<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                            • 250-252 Charminster Road. <\/strong>Plans to squeeze in miniscule \u2018student flats\u2019 should be<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                              refused<\/p>\n

                              • 6 Nelson Road. <\/strong>Plans for 4 houses on a \u2018back land\u2019 site needs reconsidering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                      • Land to Rear of 72-100 Moorside Grove. <\/strong>There were multiple objections to the plans to build 14 four bedroom affordable houses on the site (contravention of \u2018Open Spaces\u2019 Act, concerns over \u2018rights of way and flooding).\u00a0 The Board unanimously approved<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

APPG and Civic Voice were campaigning on the negative effects of the latest deregulation proposed by the Government in the National Planning Policy Framework.
