Minutes of a Meeting of the Committee held at 18 Sandbourne Road<\/strong><\/p>\n

at 2pm on Monday 26th<\/sup> June 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Present:<\/strong> John Barker (President<\/em>), Ken Mantock (Chairman<\/em>), Jean Bird (Vice Chairman), Hilda Brownlow, Sally McGrath (Membership Secretary<\/em>), Beryl Parker (Social Secretary), <\/em>John Soane<\/p>\n

  2. \u00a0 <\/strong>The minutes for the meetings held on 22nd<\/sup> May were agreed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Matters Arising from the Minutes.\u00a0 <\/strong>There were no matters arising<\/li>\n
    2. Local Development Framework. \u00a0<\/strong>The next meeting will be on 4th<\/sup> September when matters to<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      be discussed will include Community Infrastructure Levy and the Poole Local Plan<\/p>\n

       <\/p>\n

      1. Built Environment.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        5.1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hospital Access from the A338 Spur Road.\u00a0 <\/strong>Plans go to the Planning Committee on 17th<\/sup> July.\u00a0 The new access will permit industrial\/commercial development on the already designated Wessex Fields site.\u00a0 From the information given at the recent Andrew England meeting there appears to be no likelyhood of direct access from Throop\/Holdenhurst Village and so the fear of opening up of green belt land for development is very unlikely. However, the Society would oppose Phase II as it offers the possibility of opening up currently protected land.<\/p>\n

        5.2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Moorside Cottage.\u00a0 <\/strong>Nothing new, the owners remain reluctant to carry out necessary repairs.<\/p>\n

        5.3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wharfedale Road Business Units.\u00a0 <\/strong>The plans for the proposed training centre have been turned down but a new plan has been submitted along similar lines so the original objection regarding loss of commercial\/employment use stood.<\/p>\n

        5.4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Branksome Hill Road.\u00a0 <\/strong>Awaiting Planning Board consideration but as the plans were even bigger likely to be rejected again.<\/p>\n

        5.5\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3 Wickham Road.\u00a0 <\/strong>Application for flats has been refused,\u00a0 Conversion of existing preferable<\/p>\n

        5.6\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Belvedere Hotel.\u00a0 <\/strong>Demolition of derelict hotels scheduled for early autumn and new development thereafter.<\/p>\n

        5.7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wessex Hotel.\u00a0 <\/strong>Planning Board has approved demolition despite pleas from dancing clubs \u2013 replaced<\/p>\n

        \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>with budget hotel and two blocks of flats.\u00a0 The belvedere tower should be removed and retained as a feature in the grounds.<\/p>\n

        5.8\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Durley Road Car Park.\u00a0 <\/strong>The Planning Board had refused the suggested flats.<\/p>\n

        5.9\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 18 Knole Road.\u00a0 . <\/strong>Too big a building.<\/p>\n

        1. \u00a0\u00a0Heritage and Conservation.<\/strong>\n
            \n
          • Westover Road Cinemas. <\/strong>Awaiting reply from English Heritage.<\/li>\n
          • 80 Christchurch Road.<\/strong> The windows needed retaining in timber not replacing in upvc.<\/li>\n
          • Victorian Society Buildings at Risk Register.<\/strong> The Society was concerned about buildings at risk including Throop Mill, the Cliff End Hotel and the former shop in Holdenhurst Road.<\/li>\n
          • Lansdowne College. <\/strong>The removal of the Buddleia was imminent and thanks to James for chasing.<\/li>\n
          • BNSS HQ, Christchurch Road. <\/strong>A letter of support for their bid to HLF for assistance with repair works \u00a0of the lantern had been sent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              • 17A Christchurch Road. <\/strong>A new student block \u2013 too tall, remove the top two floors<\/li>\n
              • 130 Alumhurst Road, corner Sandbourne Road. <\/strong>The proposed 3 detached and 2 semi-detached<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                houses was excessive.\u00a0 Two large houses would be more suitable, or convert the existing.<\/p>\n

                • 2 Benellen Road. <\/strong>The proposed 2 houses should be permitted<\/li>\n
                • 570 Wimborne Road (Old Fire Station).<\/strong> The proposal for retail and flat development was<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  inappropriate and the extension should be refused<\/p>\n

                  • 114 \u2013 120 Charminster Road. <\/strong>The proposed extension to the rear was excessive<\/li>\n
                  • 17 Old Christchurch Road. <\/strong>This copy-cat speculative development was an over development<\/li>\n
                  • Wootton Gardens\/Bath Road. <\/strong>The proposed student block should be redesigned with a more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                  Beryl would invite Martyn Underhill to be the speaker.\u00a0 Round tables, refreshments on arrival as<\/p>\n

                                  this year but refreshments on each table to avoid queuing and mishaps.<\/p>\n

                                  • Christmas Lunch. <\/strong>This would be at the Connaught Hotel on 16th<\/sup> December with entertainment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
