      1. Matters Arising from the Minutes.\u00a0 <\/strong>There were no matters arising.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. Local Development Framework. \u00a0<\/strong>Nothing to report as there hasn\u2019t been an<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          LDF meeting recently.<\/p>\n

          1. Built Environment.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            5.1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Durley Road Flats (BDC) <\/strong>Revised plans were awaited.<\/p>\n

            5.2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Belvedere Hotel.\u00a0 <\/strong>A special meeting of the Planning Board was being held this afternoon with a recommendation to approve. The design had been revised twice and the Society had supported the application.<\/p>\n

             <\/p>\n

            5.3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hospital Access from the Spur Road . <\/strong>The proposals for road works and accessways through the green belt at Riverside Avenue would be monitored and commented on when the public consultation process begins.<\/p>\n

            5.4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 St Stephen\u2019s Road Flats (BDC). <\/strong>The revised scheme was better suited to the site, retained more trees and gave a better backdrop to the streetscene and adjacent St Stephens Church.<\/p>\n

            5.5\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Winter Gardens. <\/strong>The latest proposals seemed to far better represent our aspirations for the site in terms of tree retention, building lines, open space between buildings and overall impact. Heights of some blocks might be better a little lower.<\/p>\n

            \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

            1. \u00a0\u00a0Heritage and Conservation<\/strong>\n
                \n
              • Westover Road Cinemas. <\/strong>The request for listing was rejected, probably because the<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                latest papers had not been studied as fully as we would have hoped.\u00a0 James was<\/p>\n

                querying this decision.\u00a0 The original plans and even more surprizing second plans<\/p>\n

                submitted by the developers would be discussed by members of our Planning sub-<\/p>\n

                committee on 20th<\/sup> February with Andrew England.<\/p>\n

                  \n
                • Boscombe and Pokesdown Plan. <\/strong>The next meeting to consider the plan was<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  scheduled for 8th<\/sup> February and James was helping with the Heritage Policies.<\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • Victorian Shelter on West Cliff. <\/strong>There was a suggestion that the shelter might be<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    moved.\u00a0 The Society would support the local residents association\u2019s efforts to have it<\/p>\n

                    retained and refurbished.<\/p>\n

                    6.4<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Golden Anniversary of Conservation Areas.\u00a0 <\/strong>This occurs in 2017 and we ought to<\/p>\n

                    publicise the history and features within Bournemouth CAs. Ken and James to<\/p>\n

                    discuss.<\/p>\n

                    1. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>See John Soane\u2019s report:\n

                      • Lansdowne Drill Hall. <\/strong>Development of flats and shops acceptable<\/li>\n
                      • 5 Ferncroft Road.<\/strong> The proposal for 4 houses on the site of a bungalow was tight, but acceptable<\/li>\n
                      • 17 Howarth Road. <\/strong>A proposal to build a bungalow in the garden, should be refused<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                        as the site is too small<\/p>\n

                          \n
                        • 938-946 Ringwood Road. <\/strong>The plan for 15 flats was excessive for the site.<\/li>\n
                        • 59-61 St Alban\u2019s Avenue. <\/strong>The proposed 17 flat block was overbearing.\u00a0 To reduce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                          \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>the impact the development should be in two blocks.<\/p>\n

                          • 38 Southbourne Grove. <\/strong>The proposal to build a house on a commercial site should<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                            \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>be refused<\/p>\n

                              \n
                            • 181 Holdenhurst Road.<\/strong> As above.<\/li>\n
                            • Branksome Hill Road. <\/strong>The proposed 5 houses and 20 flats was far too much for the<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                              site and should be refused<\/p>\n

                                \n
                              • 140-142 Holdenhurst Road (South Western Hotel). <\/strong>This site should be retained as<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                an inn\/restaurant and the conversion to 20 student flats was inappropriate.<\/p>\n

                                  \n
                                • 241 Charminster Road. <\/strong>The proposed 7 flats needed design improvements<\/li>\n
                                • 56 Christchurch Road. <\/strong>The proposed 32 flats should be allowed after improvement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                  to the overbearing architecture<\/p>\n

                                    \n
                                  • Roland House, Hinton Road. <\/strong>The proposed extra two storeys was too much, but an<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                    additional single storey would improve the building<\/p>\n

                                      \n
                                    • 91 Curzon Road. <\/strong>The proposed single house should be permitted as an exception.<\/li>\n
                                    • 15 Glenferness Avenue. <\/strong>An \u2018Arts and Crafts\u2019 design for the proposed 10 flats would<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                      be more suitable for the site.<\/p>\n

                                        \n
                                      • 17 Wimborne Road. <\/strong>The design for 9 flats was banal, redesign was needed.<\/li>\n
                                      • 1374 Christchurch Road. <\/strong>There had been 33 objections to this Housing Association<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                        proposal to build 18 flats, it should be rejected.<\/p>\n

                                          \n
                                        • 9 Walpole Road. <\/strong>The proposal for 4 houses would lead to overcrowding, one pair of<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                          semi-detached houses would be appropriate for the site.<\/p>\n

                                            \n
                                          • 64 Irving Road. <\/strong>The plan to build 5 houses should be refused \u2013 too crowded.<\/li>\n
                                          • 9 Merlewood Close. <\/strong>The proposed 7 flat building was overbearing and should be<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                            again refused<\/p>\n

                                              \n
                                            • 5 Florence Road. <\/strong>The plan for 9 flats was acceptable<\/li>\n
                                            • Wessex Hotel. <\/strong>The plans to demolish the Hotel and rebuild to include flats was<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                              \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>inappropriate for the area.<\/p>\n

                                               <\/p>\n

                                              1. Planning Board Observation.\u00a0 <\/strong>John S reported:\n

                                                • Winter Gardens. <\/strong>There was a presentation on the latest scheme.\u00a0 There was more open space, but the height of the towers needed to be reduced together with a change<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                                  from the asymmetric fenestration<\/p>\n

                                                    \n
                                                  • Bus Station \u2013 Casino. <\/strong>The Council had no power to refuse a casino on the site, but it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                                    would have a separate entrance<\/p>\n

                                                     <\/p>\n

                                                      \n
                                                    • St Stephen\u2019s Road Flats. <\/strong>They were approved on 16th<\/sup> January, but with the building moved back from the road and with increased tree cover between the flats and the<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                                      Church<\/p>\n

                                                      • 2 Wilfred Road. <\/strong>Permission was granted for the conversion of a coach house to residential use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                                              1. Bournemouth-in-Bloom.\u00a0 <\/strong>The AGM would be held at the Miramar Hotel on<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                                                2nd<\/sup> March, followed with a Black Tie Dinner at Highcliffe Castle in May<\/p>\n

                                                                1. Activities Officers\u2019 Reports.\u00a0 <\/strong>The Committee expressed their delight that<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                                                  Beryl would be receiving her well deserved \u2018Citizen\u2019s Award\u2019 at the Palace of<\/p>\n

                                                                  Westminster later this week.<\/p>\n

                                                                  \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                                                  1. Membership Officer\u2019s Report.\u00a0 <\/strong>Sally would be sending subscription<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                                                    Reminders with the AGM notice.<\/p>\n

                                                                    1. Webmaster\u2019s Report.<\/strong> The website was \u2018work in progress\u2019<\/li>\n
                                                                    2. Treasurer\u2019s Report: <\/strong>Current Account – \u00a32,765.67, CAF Account – \u00a37,408.60.\u00a0 The annual accounts were in the course of preparation.\u00a0 The account signatories agreed at previous meetings had now been confirmed by the banks.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                                                      1. Annual General Meeting. <\/strong>This would be at 6.30 for 7pm on Monday 3rd<\/sup> April at the Connaught Hotel with coffee on arrival.\u00a0 The hotel would be asked to provide round tables, rather than rows of chairs and seating for 50. Following the formal business James Weir would make a presentation on The Regent Cinema and his investigations into the remaining historic fabric.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                                                        1. Any Other Business.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                                                          18.1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Closure of Lansdowne Road.\u00a0 <\/strong>Sally informed the committee that Lansdowne Road Slip Road to the railway station had been closed on Christmas Eve and New Year\u2019s Eve causing considerable difficulty for bus passengers.\u00a0 This would be raised with Andrew England.<\/p>\n

                                                                           <\/p>\n

                                                                          18.2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Inaccessibilty of The Square Seats.\u00a0 <\/strong>Sally informed the committee that on a number of occasions during the Christmas period the commemorative seats opposite Tesco had been blocked by commercial operations.\u00a0 This meant that seats which were regularly and frequently used were not available at these times<\/p>\n
